Coronavirus Schools/Education moaning topic

Could we have a topic specially for all the winging about

  • how it's not fair my children aren't in school
  • how it is unfair that keyworker children are in school
  • how it is unfair that children with SEN or in foster care etc are in school
  • how teachers are lazy good for nothings
  • how will my 5 year old ever catch up from missing a few weeks of school
  • how it is so unfair my y11 will likely only get assessed as having 8s rather than the 9s they deserve

These are scattered everywhere. However much I try to avoid them, I can't.
I want to keep using MN, as it helps with important social interaction, but these threads (and the general scaremongering ones too) keep leaping out at me whatever board I'm on.

Here bloody here, I'm debating leaving MN for this reason.

GCAcademic · 09/01/2021 08:19

Absolutely.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 09/01/2021 10:15

100% agree. It's impossible to avoid them. I've been hiding threads left, right and centre.
Although it might be the final push I need to leave.

Frokni · 09/01/2021 10:18

I am pleased to hear other people are thinking the same. MN need to limit these threads ASAP!

HazeyJaneII · 09/01/2021 10:20

Could we have Mumsnet for chat and friendly advice, and Arsenet for people being arseholes please?

@HazeyJaneII

Could we have Mumsnet for chat and friendly advice, and Arsenet for people being arseholes please?
But there are just so many of them!
HazeyJaneII · 09/01/2021 10:22

I know....it would make Mumsnet feel a lot cosier again though!

Sittinbythetree · 09/01/2021 10:23

Yes I’m a teacher and like a bit of mn ing as a distraction. It’s very annoying seeing all these repetitive moany threads!

napody · 09/01/2021 10:25

Oh dear God, yes, agreed!

TeenPlusTwenties · 09/01/2021 10:42

Exactly.
Imagine you are a secondary school teacher, with a 6 year old, using MN. You are trying to do live lessons, whilst potentially homeschooling your child (or your child is using a keyworker place). You have a borderline pass GCSE class who you really want to pass. You also maybe often give your wisdom to other parents on the education board.

You come on MN for some light relief and you get bashed on all sides, for being workshy, for using a keyworker place, for setting too much work, or maybe not enough, for not being contactable instantly, for running a lesson with a child in the background.
