Deleted posts still appearing in quotes

Just as the title says. Surely that defeats the whole objective? Especially as posts can be deleted for referencing a deleted post.

Apologies if there's already a thread on this, I've had a look but can't see one.

(Google Chrome on desktop site, before you ask!)

I'm glad someone mentioned deleted posts as I am fuming at the amount of times I write a post and cant post! Who is it that decides we cant have free speech! I was on a post just now nothing offensive and got taken down before I had a chance to answer! Understand if it's the op concerned but not because a random has reported it.

Timeforredwine · 29/12/2020 11:54

Sorry if thus isnt what you meant in op only I have found nowhere on here to complain, it's a chat forum therefore if you post it's done not taken off when someone doesnt like the opinion.

The site owners who made the talk guidelines.

It doesn't matter whether it was reported by a 'random' (aren't we all randoms here?). If the mods think it breaks the rules, they'll delete the posts/threads.

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2020 11:57

Having said that, I do think the amount of threads being deleted nowadays due to 'privacy concerns' are ridiculous.

It's mostly because the OP doesn't like the replies.

Timeforredwine · 29/12/2020 11:58

Ok I understand certain standard of regulations but I've seen this happen time after time and there has not been anything in the posts to suggest it needs taking down.

Timeforredwine · 29/12/2020 12:00

Yes I understand the op taking down BUT I never understand why in a whole world of people that anyone would think they would be recognised?

JazzyGeoff · 29/12/2020 12:02

I don't think that's the issue that the OP created the thread about anyway.

OP I think you (us) need to also report the quoting posts as well

That's a good idea, I just don't want to be the endlessly reporting person that Timeforredwine is talking about Grin

😀it's fine I wasnt talking about 1 post I mean quite a few and i know that wasnt what the thread was about, I havent quoted any threads anyway, I still think it's weird with millions in the world that someone takes their own post down too for it being "outing"

Timeforredwine · 29/12/2020 13:38

Btw I get that you mean if a thread is deleted why do people quote it on another thread, maybe it relates to the new one and they font know its deleted? Unsure! I'm just fed up with no opinion unless everyone else agrees having it thrown out just because some are not the majority.

bearlyactive · 29/12/2020 13:49

I'd better clear a few thing up!

What I meant was, for example, someone makes an inflammatory/abusive comment that gets deleted, but before it's deleted someone else quotes it using the "quote" button. The deleted post still shows up in its entirety in the post that quotes it, thus defeating the whole object.
