Premium 'Recently Registered' email

SantasBritchesSpelleas · 24/12/2020 20:29

I had an email advertising Premium saying 'We noticed you recently registered with Mumsnet'. I registered several years ago! Is this an error or is it like moving into a small village where you're still considered an incomer 20 years later?

I had the same email. I've been here 5 years. And I haven't signed up for premium yet because I don't want to. Not impressed with the spam.

TabithaTowers · 24/12/2020 20:40

I just got this too. Really pissed me off.
I've been here 5 years at least!

SantasBritchesSpelleas · 24/12/2020 20:43

Glad it's not just me!

Really annoyed me as well. Poor timing at 8pm on Christmas Eve and I have been here for over 10 years.....

VimFuego101 · 24/12/2020 20:49

I got this too. I was very offended, I've been here under various usernames for at least 10 years... Grin

TabithaTowers · 24/12/2020 20:50

Just another plug for premium and assumes I am a Mum.

I'm also a non-mum. I'm childfree by choice so I'm not bothered, but it might upset someone who was suffering from infertility.

I've just had this but to an email account that isn't connected to my Mumsnet account. Spam much?

Sharpkat · 24/12/2020 20:54

@TabithaTowers only just said that it assume I am a Mum. Even more reason not to have my life made "a bit easier."

"First in line" - yep, for the delete button.

RudolphtheRemaindeer · 24/12/2020 20:55

Just had the same. I've been here at least 8 years.

Ileanna · 24/12/2020 20:55

I'm childfree
Been here years
Hate gin
Find spam annoying

None of it works for me 😆

AaronPurr · 24/12/2020 20:58

I'm really annoyed by this. It's been a shit year for many people and sending what amounts to a begging spam email on Christmas Eve is in poor taste.

KatyMac · 24/12/2020 21:05

Me too and I registered here (with this name) in 2003!

TabithaTowers · 24/12/2020 21:07

I could be a bloke! I could have fertility issues or have lost a child. Really insensitive.

Plus, if I wanted premium, I'd sign up.
The reality is that I live abroad, don't fit the demographic and think it's a piss poor offering for a fiver a month.

Halsall · 24/12/2020 21:09

I got one of these 'we notice you've recently registered' emails too, I've been on here for aeons Hmm . Not massively impressed tbh.

ThreeLadsPointingAtAStar · 24/12/2020 21:10

I've been here at least 13 years so I was a bit surprised to be addressed as someone who recently registered - perfect example of marketing gone wrong.

Lougle · 24/12/2020 21:16

I've been here 14 years, have no intention of paying £5 per month for premium and don't even name change.... Definitely haven't recently signed up.

Nikhedonia · 24/12/2020 21:29

"We've noticed you've just signed up, fancy spending some cash with us?"

"Ah no, this is awkward... I've been here for the best part of a decade, but cheers for noticing" Confused

EstherMumsnet · 24/12/2020 21:53

Hello, thanks for flagging this. This email was meant to go out to people who had registered in the last few days but due to a human error it went out to a much larger segment of email addresses on our database. The issue has been fixed now. Many apologies, we know many of you have been here years so it must have been a bit of an odd email to get! Apologies again everyone, and Merry Christmas.

SantasBritchesSpelleas · 24/12/2020 21:58

Thanks for the explanation @EstherMumsnet. Merry Christmas!

I'm not sure it's great marketing to send begging emails to people who have only just signed up. I doubt those who have signed up in the last few days are going to be interested in paying £5 (or £50) for a site they've barely had a chance to explore, especially with how many have lost their jobs in the last few months.

Blowingagale · 24/12/2020 22:27

Bizarre email to send to any member on Christmas Eve (now I know it isn’t a scam). I’ve been here years. Not a mum (child free I suppose). For new members lots won’t know about naice anything.

Note on my email there are two opt out options at the bottom - the top one is only opt out of information on premium. The lower one is general marketing and offers.

PlanDeRaccordement · 24/12/2020 22:39

I got the email too and found it missed the mark. Addressing mums only is exclusionary considering this is a site that supposedly has a value of diversity. The whole “naice gin” comment is classist and also has a vibe like mumsnet users all like/drink alcohol. And what is “sleb” anyway? Short for celeb? My god what do you do with all the time saved by typing one fewer letter?
I was mildly interested in premium, but the email cured me.

Lougle · 24/12/2020 22:39

I've clicked both opt out links. Despite clicking every link I could see in the accounts page recently, I received 4 emails today, telling me to check out the AIBU poll. It's so annoying.
