Mumsnet surveys - titles need more info!

When you're asking people if they want to take part, please can you say what the survey is about, or who it is/isn't for?

It's irritating when you click on the link to find it's about an irrelevant subject, or it's only for people with babies.

Surely that's not a lot to ask or too hard to do?!

Hi BIWI

Many thanks for the feedback - we'll pass it over to our insight team for them to consider. Flowers

Statistically speaking that’s often not a great idea.

If you have bland titles then you’ll attract a wide spread of MNers, linked only by whether they are bored or fancy winning a hundred quid.

If you say “we’re surveying people’s thoughts about Brexit or rear facing seatbelts or phonics or toilet brushes” then you’ll disproportionately attract people with strong views on those things and your data will be almost useless.

However there are some cases where only MNers from quite a narrow group are required and in that case it’s a bit annoying not to be given the heads up until you click through. Eg title says “MNers with teenaged children” and then turns out to be a survey only applicable to MNers whose children are learning to drive.
