Do the ads slow this site down?

I sometimes get transferring from ads.adviva.bannernet or something when trying to get on here. Grr. Is it ads loading?

Hi, yes, that's the ads loading. If you can, let us know what you think is doing it - especially if it's a particular ad. We always contact the ad agency and have them pull ads which misbehave.

I noticed it was reeeaaaallly slow when the ad for 'FAST BROADBAND' loaded

The Spiderman dvd and the Channel 4 advert (program about kids learning to read) are both slowing things up.

If I get one of those ads up, every internet page I have open goes at snails pace until I refresh the relevant page to get rid of the ad.

Have checked and double checked, it is definitely the ads and not my PC.

it's worse on my laptop for some reason or maybe earlier today it was worse and i just happened to be on my laptop
