Strikethrough failures on mobile site/App

Ive noticed that for quite some time now, the strikethrough feature doesn’t work.

Is this a glitch or doesn't the mobile site and the app support it?

Hi OP

Can you let us know what device and browser you're using, and can you provide an example here? test

SillyBub · 24/11/2020 19:07

I'm on the mobile site via Chrome on Android using my phone I'm not showing off or anything and it works just fine for me

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/11/2020 06:35

OP, if you're using an ipad/iphone go to:
Settings
General
Keyboard
Turn off predictive text

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/11/2020 06:47

Aaarghhh!

Turn off SMART PUNCTUATION in keyboard settings, not predictive text!

Ginandplatonic · 25/11/2020 06:53

Yes, it’s because smart text converts two dashes to a long dash.

RefuseTheLies · 25/11/2020 06:57

test

Thanks! That's been annoying me for ages Grin

BikeRunSki · 25/11/2020 06:58

seems ok to me

BikeRunSki · 25/11/2020 07:04

Are you using the “styling” feature ?
Click on the big italic I in the circles under the message box.
This will give you some choices of text styles
Click on “delete”, it will give you these 4 dashes ----
Put your cursor in the middle of the 4 dashes and type

ooh

nemeton · 25/11/2020 08:51

That method works BikeRunSki but mine doesn't work normally (android phone, Firefox browser)

BikeRunSki · 25/11/2020 09:34

@nemeton, the normal method doesn’t work if you have predictive texting, because it joins the two little dashes into a single hyphen.

nemeton · 25/11/2020 10:29

Heheh- but I have a workaround now thanks to you Smile

LouMumsnet · 26/11/2020 22:21

Thanks for all the advice on here, folks. Flowers

It works fine for us too tbh

@PerfidiousAlbion, have you sorted it now or are you still having issues?

PerfidiousAlbion · 27/11/2020 13:38

I’ll try to strike through below. Fingers crossed!

No. So could it be my phone? I’m tying two dashes but they appear to convert to one dash. I wonder if predictive text is to blame?

Have turned off 'smart punctuation'.

Here's hoping
