A box takes over half my screen playing a video and it is very annoying! Using chrome on a Samsung s8 if that matters.

Same, for the past few days. It's extremely annoying! Also using Chrome on a Samsung Galaxy here

KatherineJaneway · 20/10/2020 14:28

Now it's Persil

Samsung phone using Android

ponygirlcurtis · 20/10/2020 18:04

Yep, I had the Persil one too, will try and get a screenshot.

Painsnail · 20/10/2020 18:17

I'm usually quite tolerant of the ads but the pop up videos are driving me insane. The pot noodle one is particularly irritating but I've also had them for persil and some kind of moisturiser.

They're loud and annoying, and I can't close them or scroll past them. Frankly it's putting me off using mumsnet

ExclamationPerfume · 21/10/2020 07:38

This is STILL happening. Why is nobody fixing this?? @MNHQ

80sShoulderPads · 21/10/2020 07:43

I just thought it was a new and intrusive ad - you have to wait 5 seconds or so, same as you do to skip ads on YouTube.

It's working though, I haven't bought any noodles but I did go and look at the cost of going MN premium.

hellswelshy · 21/10/2020 08:33

Same issue here, very off putting!

DefinitelyPossiblyMaybe · 21/10/2020 08:37

Yes, very very annoying, and the massive KFC one.

ForTheLoveOfFaff · 21/10/2020 09:46

Yep, I'm getting the pop-up video ads as well. And you can't get rid of them for a few seconds either as the x button doesn't appear straight away. Very irritating.

DeltaFlyer · 21/10/2020 10:27

I'm having this issue too.
Every time I click on a new thread or the active thread page.
It's very intrusive as it covers content and takes an age for the cross to appear to get rid of it.
I don't normally mind the adverts but this one is awful

Bearfrills · 21/10/2020 10:28

Still having this issue

HopeMumsnet · 21/10/2020 11:02

Really sorry about the delay here. It looks like the ads team has worked out what's causing it but it's yet to be resolved so we have given them a wee dunt. Many apologies.

BeBraveAndBeKind · 21/10/2020 16:52

Started having this issue today on a Sony phone with chrome.

WotNoLoobrush · 21/10/2020 18:59

Is this not a deliberate attempt by MN to persuade us to pay for premium then? (Hope not)

ThistleWitch · 22/10/2020 12:40

I wonder why people have ad blockers??

Also the top ad moves around as well, its shit

Hi folks

We're still investigating this one - please do continue to bear with us. Flowers

ExclamationPerfume · 22/10/2020 22:15

This annoying KFC one keeps coming up now. It takes over the whole screen. It shouldn't take this long to get it fixed.

Ducksurprise · 22/10/2020 22:42

Agree, I don't use ad blockers but MN is becoming unusable. I can't scroll through posts anymore without an intrusive ad or an ad that just loads over what I'm reading. The ads within the thread are now so big that I am forever accidentally clicking on them. Big issue for advertisers is that I actively avoid buying from places that are intrusive. So no persil/pot noodle/kfc or virgin for me.

DawnMumsnet · 23/10/2020 16:33

Hello,

Our Ads team have finally managed to get this Pot Noodle ad blocked - they're still trying to investigate why it was misbehaving in this way. We're really sorry for all the inconvenience this has been causing.

@ExclamationPerfume - we've flagged the KFC one to the team and will be back with a response as soon as possible.

Faircastle · 23/10/2020 18:34

Thank you

ponygirlcurtis · 23/10/2020 19:24

Thanks 👍

ExclamationPerfume · 02/11/2020 07:52

@MNHQ any news on the KFC advert please? It takes up the whole screen and is very annoying. It has been like this for weeks. It has had the opposite effect as I will never buy a KFC again.
