Can we have an Indian mumsnetters board please

I'm posting to make a request for an Indian mumsnetters board. I know there have been requests for an Asian/AME board but I and other mumsnetters feel a specific Indian board would be really useful and benefit us.

Indian people make up the largest minority group in the U.K. we experience challenges and issues specific to being Indian (not just Asian or AME) and would like a board to go to in order to talk about these issues. Especially as many of them can be cultural and when posting about them on other boards it can lead to unhelpful advice from those who don't understand the situation.

I know there have been requests for an Asian board however the term 'Asian' homogenises a massive group of people from the biggest continent who have different cultures, ways of life and face different issues. Therefore it wouldn't be useful for issues specific to Indian people as there is very little crossover in, for example, Japanese and Indian cultures and ways of life.

We have seen the succcess of the new Black mumsnetters board and the sense of community it has brought as well as the help it has provided on specific issues and this has inspired us to ask for a space specific to us too.

Absolutely agree there would things to discuss that would benefit from a targeted audience of people who may share a similar cultural background.

Agree with your point that the term “Asian” is too broad.

What are your thoughts on a board that includes people with a background from the Indian subcontinent (e.g. Pakistan and Bangladesh too) - appreciate there are a lot of differences, but there are some cultural similarities too.

This would be something of interest to me. Something slightly broader named than Indian only - more Asian sub-continent, but would be quite happy with 'Indian Mumsnetters'.

yes i agree with pp it needs to more broad than indian only and include pakistan and bangladesh. maybe indian sub-continent? as issues faced will be similar
