.asking if I want to download fs.txt or something - no idea what it is, except that it looks dodgy! Anyone else?

Thanks so much for all of the information.
Is this only happening on safari/ios by chance?

bishopgiggles · 24/09/2020 10:06

Me too - and I'm on a Windows PC, using Firefox.

jamaisjedors · 24/09/2020 10:19

No windows pc firefox

I've been getting this and following advice I scanned for a virus as there is one that disguises itself as f.txt

But it could also be a glitch in googleads. Suspect it might be this as it only happens on mumsnet.

I was going to suggest it might be a setting in google analytics but have just seen this article which suggests it is actually a google fault.

news.thewindowsclub.com/firefox-chrome-edge-safari-forced-to-download-mysterious-f-text-file-103254/

Fingers crossed they get it sorted soon.

I think the pop up might orginate from Google and is because flash is no longer supported and so an advert fails to show. For some reason this causes the pop up. Dont quote me on this but I have been reading various other forums and that seems to be the general consensus.

Dawnlassie · 24/09/2020 19:01

@stumbledin I dont believe its unique to mumsnet. It just might be that other websites you frequent are not affected.

stumbledin · 24/09/2020 19:42

Dawnlassie Blush - yes as I have just found out!

Mummylin · 24/09/2020 19:57

I have just had this for the second time today. iPad , safari IOS 14

I keep getting a "pop up blocked" thing here as well - mobile, Chrome.
