I was just reading that Asda is creating a new aisle in their supermarkets exclusively for Vegan foods.
Well... isn't that discriminatory? Shouldn't there be an aisle exclusively for non-vegans??
To be clear, I'm being sarcastic - all aisles are for non vegans. The same way all restaurants were for non-vegans before vegan only restaurants popped up. I'm sure I would be allowed in to one of those restaurants, as long as I'm planning on eating the vegan food, and not planning on complaining that I have dietary needs too and demanding a menu to cater to me.
If somebody else then decided to create a restaurant for those with peanut allergies, coeliacs or diabetics, or purely for meat lovers, I doubt they'd say they did that 'because they weren't welcome at the vegan restaurant'. Don't you think? Smh. [/quote]
I have just one question.
I'm not a vegan.
No one is Asda knows this.
What would happen if I peered down the vegan aisle?
I already feel unwelcome. Not that Asda has said I'm not welcome. It's just that the aisle is named the Vegan aisle.
Is this the start of segregation? It's fine to have different aisles for pasta and meat etc. But a vegan aisle? I want a non-vegan aisle! (And no, the multiple dairy, meat and fish aisles do not count!)
