Deleted threads - how does it work?

A thread I had read disappeared. I wasn't following it so wasn't sure if it had been bumped off the popular page or had been deleted. Didn't think much more about it.

But I've just seen a post asking what happened to that thread has just been deleted.

Can anyone explain why this would be? I'm guessing it's because the thread was deleted, but are posts saying it got deleted due to trolling (or whatever) not allowed?

There have been numerous threads started in the last few days asking for an update on the deleted thread you are referring to.

MN do not like TAATs (threads about a thread) so that is why they will have been deleted.

Ah okay, so it's a general rule not to ask about deleted posts, rather than anything to do with the specifics of a post? Got it. Thank you.

Hi OP,

Our deletion messages should explain the reason for thread deletion but we're always happy to have a chat off the boards, too. It's true that we don't allow threads about threads but if you ever want clarification, just drop us a mail. Flowers
