Hi Mumsnet HQ

I was looking at the threads and got confused why people were responding to threads at midnight. I think there is a problem with the times, saying AM rather than PM!

Why on earth shouldn't people respond to threads at midnight?

Port1aCastis · 21/08/2020 13:17

Site members are in different Countries which are in differing time zones and anyway we have shift workers and lots of posters do not go to bed until very late or early as the case may be

HI OP

Lots of people work shifts and/or are night owls, so post later on.

Also Mumsnet is a global site, so many of the posts you might be noticing are from non-UK posters.

Hi @Twirlytwoo,

Everything looks okay, time-wise, on all the devices we've looked into. As other posters have said, Mumsnet is used by people all over the world so it's perfectly normal to see posts at all times of the day and night.

But if you see any real-time posts which have the wrong time stamp, please let us know. Smile

anon5000 · 21/08/2020 16:55

Do you think people shouldn't post after a certain time of night?

Twirlytwoo · 21/08/2020 17:07

Not at all, I was confused why I was following threads and thought there were new replies but at 12:31am when I had just seen the comment! I appreciate Mumsnet is global and wondered if it was an glitch and wanted to bring it to Mumsnet's attention. It wasn't meant in any malice! As someone with a baby and on Mumsnet at ungodly hours I fully understand there are replies at unusual hours! I just thought it was odd ALL responses were at 12am when I am following the latest threads!

All of the time stamps on every post I see are in the 24 hour format Fri 21-Aug-20 12:43:01 so where are you seeing AM/PM anyway? I didn't think this was something that could be customised, but happy to be corrected.
