The doghouse topic has always had a reputation for being a bit nasty, and at one point MN HQ stepped in, made some bannings and issued some warnings.

There is no doubt that there are helpful people on there, but unfortunately most threads seem to descend into vitriolic attacks on posters. If I ever see a thread on there and see it has more than 50 posts I skip to the end first to see how it’s kicked off...

Surely MNHQ you should be doing something?

As a rule people say that if you don’t want criticism you shouldn’t post on AIBU (I don’t agree with that either but that’s another discussion) but it’s surely at the point where anyone needing legitimate advice would never think to post in the doghouse topic for fear of being attacked for daring to buy a puppy and not rescuing a dog which, if they’re turned down, they shouldn’t be allowed any dog at all.

Honestly, you would think some of the people posting for advice were proposing serving up their dogs at the local restaurant judging by some of the responses.

Hi OP

Thanks for getting in touch about this - it's certainly not something we like to hear.

We're more than happy to take a good look at the topic and step in where necessary. If you have concerns about current threads or posts, just report them to us - if something breaks talk guidelines, we always try to remove it as quickly as we can.

If it's more the tone that's off, then we're happy to add friendly reminders where needed - again, just report to us. We'll keep an eye out for anything that may need a bit of investigation. Flowers
