Can we please have some clarity on the modding on the Harry/Meghan threads?

I'm not even someone who's posted on these threads more than once or twice, but the modding there is getting deeply annoying.

Can you please clarify EXACTLY what you don't like about particular posts (rather than just making vague comments about "not in the spirit of MN" blah blah and pulling the thread)? I have seen numerous public figures getting far, far more critical treatment than either of this pair, and the threads are usually left to stand.

Is there an overenthusiastic night mod, or are there threats of legal action from H&M?

I haven’t read this particular thread but tbh I’m surprised more threads don’t get pulled for the vitriolic comments posted against public figures, not just Harry and MEgan.

Having read treads about them in the past though, they’re usually vile, full of hatred and personal opinion which frankly just doesn’t need to be there...

The accusation is always that comments are racist whilst refusing to respond to the fact that an equal number of comments are directed to a privileged, white, male prince.

Also no response on why personal insults against the likes of Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, Amber Heard, Johnny Depp etc are allowed to stand on other threads (they are examples due to current threads about them).

i don't think anyone else (except trump) has had as many threads started just to rip a person apart.

I've never levelled racism at anyone on the M&H threads. However, to say that numerous public figures get far more critical treatment than this pair, is absolutely not true.

And please don't liken it to Boris or Trump who are instrumental in how all our lives are affected now and in the future. The day we are unable to question our leader of the country and the supposed leader of the free world is the day we are part of an autocratic dictatorship.

We cannot compare to Meghan and Harry.

Never have I seen so many threads and so many deletions and so much dislike for two people on MN and I've been here a long long time.

I don't know what happened to the new thread as I saw it was about 14 posts this morning and later on it had disappeared.

But the 'positive' titled thread has had some weird deletions this afternoon. Deleted for quoting a deleted post but they weren't quoted. The Rousette even had her last positive news post deleted!

I've been here a long time too and I have never known such an unpopular celebrity couple. It's actually tame here compared to other fora or social media. Mumsnet are probably playing safe as Harry and Meghan appear to be quite litigious.
