Would it be possible to have a function that allowed us to see how long a poster had been a member of MN, as some other sites do?

It would be especially useful in some of the forums that tend to have a mass pile on of trolls like FWR. That way genuine posters can be identified and the ones who had just joined to troll could be ignored.

Equally, if a member starts a thread of a sensitive nature and so name changes, people will know they’re genuine rather than a PBP or a troll. It might stop all the ‘interesting first post’ comments and reduce troll hunting.

Hi OP,

Thanks so much for the suggestion.

This is something that we have discussed before - at the moment, we're not sure that the positives would outweigh the negatives - we don't want to create a tier system that might put new users off, you see.

That being said, we are always happy to discuss these ideas and we'll raise it with the team again. Flowers

The demand for this, when discussed before, always seemed to hinge on the inaccurate assumption that only new posters would be troublesome or trolls.

Also, if you joined when the site was bigger, you'll be pretty anonymous. If you were one of only a few still active from yonks back, you and all your name changes might be a bit too connectable

Yes really good points from both of you. I can see why it’s not the best idea.

Some of the longest term posters are/were trolls, I have been here since 2004, deleted and re registered three times, I wouldn’t support it.
