Hidden topics appearing in 'Trending'

Argh.
Why do threads in hidden topics appear in 'Trending now?' Please, please can tech find a solution to this.

It's really annoying isn't it, I have coronavirus and AIBU hidden but end up seeing them in trending.

Thanks for raising this. It isn't a new thing, actually - the Trending block has always shown the threads that are the most viewed at that time (not those with the most recent posts) and will be the same for every poster, regardless of their individual topic preferences.

It's only the list of Active Conversations which is specific to each Mumsnetter - so any topics or threads that you've hidden will be excluded from your Active list.

Hope that explains things. And sorry if this means you're having to see threads in topics that you've excluded. We've asked our Tech team if it's something we'd consider customising in future. Brew

Thanks Dawn, it would be great if it could be re-coded so it doesn't happen. Perhaps I just need to not click on trending at all at the moment, I keep falling for threads that look all innocent and interesting and when I click on them find they are something else in disguise.
