Voting in app on AIBU

JuanNil · 28/06/2020 13:49

Apologies if this has been done to death but I couldn't see it after a cursory look. Are there any plans to introduce the voting feature for AIBU in the talk app? It's frustrating that creating a post in AIBU doesn't give you the option to add voting and it's also a bit pants that's you can't see the voting results on AIBU threads.

Unless I'm missing something and that feature is already here? It wouldn't surprise me Grin I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.

It's not a feature of the app and neither is DM ing a poster. I think there were plans to add these but I quite like the simplicity of the app.

I do also appreciate the simplicity of the app. I think if adding the voting feature caused the user interface of the entire app to become far more complicated then perhaps it wouldn't be worth it. But I was very happy to see the quoting feature added to the app shortly after it was introduced to the site, and I think that works brilliantly and barely affects the UI in any other way. If it would be possible to do something similar with the voting function, that would be brilliant Smile. Maybe instead of having it right there displayed on each thread, there could be an additional option at the bottom to view voting?

Hi @JuanNil - thanks for raising this. You're right, voting isn't in the app yet, since we wanted to test it on web first. It's been pretty successful, so we'll hopefully add it in the future - thank you for your patience!

I use the app and can't see the quoting feature on either my iPad or phone. Am I missing something?

DawnMumsnet · 29/06/2020 10:07

Hi @Zoomintheroom - you'll need to download the latest version of the iOS Talk app in order to use the quote function. You'll find the link here. Smile

Also @Zoomintheroom I'm not sure if you've tried this so apologies if you have, but to access the quoting feature, you swipe the post across the same way you would if you were going to share or report. It seems to be greyed out on an already quoted post though, I think MNHQ wanted to avoid post-ception Grin. I only mention this because as an iOS and iPad OS user, my apps automatically update, so I only found they'd added the feature by chance one day when I swiped across out of curiosity.

Yes mine update automatically too. You were right, I just needed to swipe. Thank you! 😊
