Not sure if this is the place to put this but over the past few weeks I've seen a bunch of threads which make me think that there's a child in imminent need of protection. Is there a function that allows MNHQ to act on these sorts of issues? Is there anything you can do to get a police ot SS welfare check actioned on posts like this? There are a couple of threads here that have kept me up at night...

IP addresses only show which area someone may be in.

You can't get a street and door number from it.

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 03/05/2020 16:25

I know you can't with a standard IP search engine online, but surely the police have extra capabilities? Or, on the offchance the OP has MNPremium couldn't it be done via bank details?

If you see anything that worries you report the post the the mods and they will have to decide what they do with it (according to their policies).

What posts bothered you?

WorraLiberty · 03/05/2020 16:29

I'm pretty sure the police would need a court order to get any bank details and I can't see many Judges being up for signing a warrant, on the strength of some anonymous posting on Mumsnet.

I have relatives who are teachers and work in schools with a high proportion of kids who are at risk.

One (who used to have to do home visits to vulnerable families to write reports) told me that they have had to call Social services and beg them to intervene NOW because they genuinely believed that a child would not be alive the following Monday because of the neglect and abuse.

People do post nonsense on here sometimes - remember that.

Ive already reported the ones im worried about, but i wanted to know what happens next, if there is any actual safeguarding in place or if the OP just gets an email.

Hi there,
We don't think it would be appropriate to put the precise steps here but please be assured that we do have a safeguarding policy and we do take this kind of thing very seriously. If you have reported the posts you are concerned about we will have applied this and followed any necessary steps. Thank you so much for reporting these to us.
