I subscribed to MN today because...

Over 16 years of a place to be and a place to get support. Birth, post birth, breastfeeding, babies, toddlers, children, childcare, schools, gynae health; work, studying as a mature student, fun, culture. Relationships.

Literally the only place I can tell people about my e-mop obsession and have anyone find it either interesting or useful. [BUY ONE]

Competitions. I won a big one way back which was extremely exciting, and a love2shop voucher in recent years when money was v v tight, also very exciting.

I use Oven Pride because MN. I had never previously cleaned an oven in my life and had no idea how. Ditto bathroom cleaning and a lot of other house and garden stuff that I just didn't learn growing up despite plenty of opportunities.

The 'What we're reading' board and the 50 books a year threads. I read and buy more books because of these threads.

The Westminstenders threads, FWR and politics for people, not activists (yes I know there are activists on here).

Being a carer. It's the loneliest place sometimes. MN was around when I couldn't leave the house.

Bereavement, grief and widowhood. Tbh I havent found Widowed and Young to be right for me, but MN has continued to be so.

Cheers @MNHQ. Hope you can keep going. (Though if you can't, thanks anyway. It's been emotional).

I agree, there's much that's good here. I can't justify the expenditure of subscribing at the moment (uncertainty about husband's job future in current climate) but I might consider it in the future.

Oh yes sorry - should have said the other reason is I still have an income! And I know I'm lucky.

I have subscribed. Came across MN when dc1was weeks (possibly days) old - is now 17. I don’t post much, but it has been an invaluable resource for so many things plus a huge ton of fun. It’s a very different beast now to those early days (remember when it had volunteer mods? And the first subscriptions?), but it’s worth its weight in the subscription cost, for anyone who can.

Thanks, PermanentTemporary, @Pelleas and @crumpet - it's great to hear that Mumsnet has been such a support to you over the years. We're happy to have you here. Smile

Have some Gin and some Cake and some Flowers too.

And a bit more Gin because it's Friday....

I subscribed because of the wonderful women on FWR fighting for women's rights and for safeguarding children . . . virtual vitals are an unexpected bonus!

Lacking a sweet tooth and feeling very well disposed towards Arla, for its refusal to be dragooned into the insane war against Mumsnet, I have checked out Arla Brands:

Some Castello Creamy Blue would make a nice virtual treat Smile

Mmm ... creamy blue cheese would go beautifully with the Wine in plan tonight!

Can I ask someone @ MNHQ, roughly what proportion of us have bought a premium package?

Why deleted threads still appear?

Why can't we edit/delete our own posts?

Thanks
