Stop threads from Infertility appearing in Active

PurpleDaisies · 31/03/2020 20:00

Just like the SN board, could you stop posts from infertility turning up on active conversations?

We’re getting spectacularly insensitive replies over and over again because people haven’t realised which board they’re on.

It’s actually quite upsetting.

Purple I read that thread and was appalled by some of the idiotic and insensitive posts. Absolutely agree Flowers

It’s absolutely awful that this has to happen because people have no decorum, fact or sensitivity. After all, bereavement doesn’t have to be hidden.

I’m sorry purple Flowers

Hi Purple,

We're so sorry this has happened.

We're going to discuss this as a team, please do be assured.

In the meantime, please can you report insensitive posts/posts that you feel break our guidelines to us? We'd be keen to investigate what's going on here. Flowers

@LilyMumsnet It happens time and again on infertility threads - they come up on active and some posters decide to treat it like AIBU. Today's was just one example of this happening. I found the infertility board so so helpful when going through IVF, but after creating a thread and being harangued by posters that IVF was a lifestyle choice, I took a break from the site - as was the case tonight, those posters claimed they didn't know it was the infertility board, just came up in active.

DramaAlpaca · 31/03/2020 21:50

I saw that thread and I think this is a very good idea.

Some posters are insensitive in the extreme. In most cases I don't think they mean to be, they just don't have a clue. Yes their posts could be reported, but I wouldn't say they are actually breaking guidelines in most cases, just showing their ignorance. Making the board opt-in would hopefully put a stop to a lot of the hurtful comments.

I agree with drama, I don’t think the posts technically break guidelines but they’re very insensitive and the thread gets derailed.

@LilyMumsnet I’ll send you the thread and you can see what’s happening. If this was a one off, I wouldn’t suggest taking the board off active but it happens pretty regularly.

Hi all,
We've discussed this, and seen what has happened on that thread (!) and really we think that this is a fair request. As you can imagine right now the tech team is up to their eyeballs but we've made some tweaks and hope that the board is now removed from Active.
It might take a while to settle through, or the settings might revert if someone further up the food chain changes something, so will you let us know how it's working?

PurpleDaisies · 01/04/2020 08:50

Wow, I didn’t expect this to be resolved so quickly. I really appreciate this.

Huge round of applause on behalf of me and all the other barrens. Flowers

Keep in touch to let us know if it's working and we'll do our best to keep things out of Active for you. Right now in the office our powers are somewhat diminished (we're sure you can imagine) but we're doing what we can. x

I’m pleased purple but absolutely horrified this is needed, to be honest Sad bloody depressing.

Wishing you and the other ladies the best Flowers
