How can you hide topics? I know there's a way I just can't find it anywhere.

Many thanks

Is it Coronavirus you want to hide by any chance? It's gone crazy!

ThunderPython · 06/03/2020 22:44

@LittleCabbage How did you guess!?

I think MNHQ should consider renaming the site Coronavirusnet.

I've terrible anxiety issues and in relative control at the moment, the constant threads are picking away at my resolve. It's taking all my willpower to contain it at the moment.

Any idea how to hide them on the app? Corona threads are driving me crazy.

PurplePonderer · 06/03/2020 22:50

You need to swap to desktop site using the link at the very bottom of the page.

ThunderPython · 06/03/2020 22:56

@PurplePonderer thank you!

@n00bMaster69 no idea. I actually downloaded the app because a few years ago (when I was last active) I remember you could hide individual threads via Active. The app has changed A LOT since then so I'm now clueless!

Thanks Purple. What do we do once on desktop site? I can't find a "hide topic" option?

ThunderPython · 06/03/2020 23:02

I can't either - it used to be at the bottom of your user page in Settings but I can't see it.

Ha, done it.

So in the desktop view go to the Talk section (so you can see every topic) and click the down arrow next to Talk. I've now forgotten (it's not on the screen so has therefore been wiped from my memory!) but I think you then select customise and you are liking to manage hidden threads.

Click on the stars on the first column, go to Health - Coronavirus, tick the box and then select "move to excluded" THEN you have to go to your settings (top right of screen) and enter your password and Save Changes.

@ThunderPython

Thanks, phew!

PurplePonderer · 07/03/2020 09:43

Sorry, had a mammoth lie in! Glad you found how to do it. Immeasurably improves site usage experience.

ThunderPython · 07/03/2020 09:52

It really does! Now I can just hide individual rogue AIBU or chat threads and my Active Convos is a pleasure once again (parking and CF threads aside Wink Grin)

Thanks for helping everyone out, @ThunderPython! (and sorry you had to work this out for yourself).

Here's the link, should anyone else need it - Talk preferences - topics and threads.

As pointed out, you need to be using the Desktop version of the site to be able to hide topics. Just click on the link above and keep scrolling down to the bottom of the screen... there, in teeny tiny letters, is a link to the Desktop site.

Hope that helps! Smile
