I feel like I'm being slapped in the face

I know it's only the internet, but I post in good faith on a thread, following all the guidelines to the best of my ability - and then the thread is pulled with no explanation, just ' for breaking talk guidelines'.

At least have the courtesy to message us and explain exactly which posts were unacceptable, and why!

How can a whole thread of courteous debate be unacceptable? If someone is derailing it with offensive posts, or with posts that break the guidelines, why delete the whole thread?

This is not necessarily about any particular thread, but about the many occasions when this happens.

Please, MNers, don't turn this into a TAAT, you know what will happen.

I'm quietly following along, commenting in FWR, posting elsewhere and genuinely confused about what can and can't be said now.

I've seen posts deleted which seemed to be drawing attention to something outrageous, and been unsure whether the deletion was sue to agreeing with the comment or disagreeing with it.

It's really getting hard to tell.

Hello there, @JellySlice - really sorry to hear that this has upset you. We know how frustrating it is when threads you've invested in are zapped. We don't like taking down threads either - particularly when loads of posters have taken the time to chip in with their point of view.

That said, rest assured that when we do take down a thread, there's always a valid reason - whether that's because it's breaking our talk guidelines or because it risks outing someone in RL.

We know that's not much consolation when the thread you're following suddenly does a vanishing act but we do think long and hard before deleting threads, promise!

If any of you have questions about specific threads or posts - or about the way we moderate in general - please do get in touch on [email protected] and we'd be happy to have a chat.

Why won't you tell us which posts broke the guidelines, and in what way?

Hello,

If you let us know what the thread was called, we can clarify the reason of deletion for you.

JellySlice · 02/02/2020 15:06

Which to choose?!

The latest was GC needs to stay in FWR.

By naming the thread I have turned this into a TAAT, thus giving you grounds for deleting it. But I'm doing so at your instruction. Once again struggling with the guidelines in good faith.

The silence is deafening.
