Sorry, I know it's late but this is something that at least one other poster and I have noticed. And, in my case, not just now.

I've tried copying and posting a poster's name. If I then put @ immediately before it and a 'return'/bent arrow immediately post it, it skips to the previous name I've copied and pasted.
If I put a space before the 'return', the name I've just c&ped remains.

I can show you a "for instance" on a thread here if I'm not making myself clear.

PS Also, every time I preview this I get "Access denied". I ignore that and press "Ok" and it works.

I get the same thing sometimes with "Post". I just press "Ok" but it might be one of the reasons you occasionally get double posts.

And, yes: have pressed "Ok" on my preview of this, despite being told "Access denied".
Will still press "Ok" on post...

So.

"Access" not "denied".

Thought so.

Hi @LaMarschallin sorry to hear you're having problems. Can you let us know your set up, so the device and browser you are using, and the versions, and we'll take a look. Does the same issue happen if you use a different browser?

Let us know when you have a second, and we'll hopefully sort out the issue. Smile

HappyExteriorSadInterior · 28/01/2020 09:32

@LaMarschallin - I'm glad you have asked about these issues, I experience them too!

LaMarschallin · 28/01/2020 13:33

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly, sonia.

I hope I'm giving the right answers to your questions (I'm not the most computer literate person).

I access MN on a Samsung smartphone and use Google Chrome.

That may well not be specific enough and, if not, I'll have to ask one of my daughters.

If I'm Blushing now, I'll really be Blushing then.

Now, I hate to be one of those people who reports back on what DH says, but...

I was just talking about this to DH and have worked out that this happens if I press @ in my reply then paste the copy of the poster's name. Pressing "return" then scrolls back to whatever MN name I last c&p, but not the last thing I c&ped.

If I c&p and then put @ in front, all is well.

I guess I've found out how to deal with it for myself, but it still seems an odd thing to happen.

The "Access denied" thing is a separate issue.
It comes up randomly to either "Preview" or "Post" but, as I said, I've learned to ignore it and just click on "ok".

I have done a double post before because of it though.

Yes! This is really annoying! And it’s a new thing to which has crept in the last couple of weeks. My chosen method of replying to a post was to copy an entire post, then add an @ then paste the post and just delete the date and time. Since it’s been updated where typing @ automatically brings up usernames, I can’t do this anymore. There is a way around it, as @LaMarschallin has mentioned in the post above, but it’s more faffy.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 30/01/2020 14:03

^ That should have said I copy an entire post including the username and date and time posted, add the @ and then paste the post and delete the date and time before posting

soniamumsnet · 30/01/2020 14:48

Hi @BritneyPeedOnALadybug sorry to hear you're having problems too. Can you let us know the device you were using and browser please? Flowers

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 30/01/2020 15:24

It’s an iPhone 6 using chrome via the site, not the app.

Thanks Smile

soniamumsnet · 30/01/2020 15:36

Thanks. We'll try to get to the bottom of this for you. Smile

@LaMarschallin @HappyExteriorSadInterior @soniamumsnet

I have recently posted in my “old way” as I described upthread and it’s working (at least, for me) at the moment so thanks for the fix(?) Smile

LaMarschallin · 31/01/2020 09:05

Hasn't changed for me, sadly.

AIBU to feel paranoid? Sad

(Joke! Promise I don't actually feel like that and I know it's a pretty small problem in the grand scheme of things)
