Moving/flashing ads

I usually view Mumsnet on my phone but on my iPad today and the adverts at the side of the screen are giving me a sore head it’s very hard to read with these things flickering in the corne of your eye then I look and stop following what I’m reading, Ive given up now though.

Is there a way of turning them off or making the screen bigger so there are no ads at the sides?

I agree, I have the same problem. I like to use safari but the moving ads are driving me mad! I'm using the app instead at the moment.

The moving ads are triggering migraines for me. Make them stop....

I use duck duck go and don't get any ads now

Hi OP,

Would you be able to provide us with some screenshots so that we can see what you're seeing?

Also, is this on the app or on browser (if browser, can we ask what one you're using?)

Nanny0gg · 27/01/2020 07:24

I read on my phone via Google not the app. The rolling ads at the top are intensely irritating.

Please make them stop!

I find they trigger seizures in me so I cannot use MN as much I have in the past. They're constantly changing and sometimes cover half the screen as well and recently crash my device as I've no enough memory to run them. I can't extend the screen anymore either as every time they move the screen changes back.

It's quite dangerous to have constantly running flashing ads MNHQ as it puts users at risk, it also costs us a lot to run your site if we don't have wifi and must use mobile data as they're literally mini films playing.

I've had this conversation with them before and was told I needed to use app or update my iOS neither of which I can do.

Flashing ads here too on my apple Ipad.
There is an off arrow at the top right hand side of the ads (which are on the right hand side of the IPad) which turns the ad off but only for a sort time. Pls stop them , they are very annoying

GalactiCat · 27/01/2020 21:08

I use free ad blocker and dont get anything. Its fantastic!

Becca19962014 · 27/01/2020 21:17

I can't use an adblocker as my equipment is too old to run them and I've no money for new otherwise I would.

The arrow only works for so many a month after that you get asked to pay a subscription. Even then it doesn't block all of them and they now rotate, I've had at least four playing next to this thread alone typing this. It's rediculous.
