Just curious - using Mumsnet in a non UK location / different time zone

So here I am, on holiday, cocktail in hand (well, Diet Coke), watching the sunset over the sea (and mumsnetting).

And even though my iPad etc is on local time, Mumsnet and the timing of posts remains resolutely on UK time.

Appreciate Mumsnet is heavily UK centric - just seems odd that the times on posts etc remain UK focussed when iPad etc is set on the date, times etc of the location I'm in

I assume the time is taken from the MN server when the post appears. It would be complicated to translate that time for every user, it would involve interrogating your device for local time then calculating the post time, for every post on every thread anyone looks at.

I suppose I assumed it was like the way email, search a engines, WhatsApp etc automatically adjust...

Hi OP,

Well, we're not jealous at all... Wink
We'll raise this with our tech team!

I quite like it showing UK time, I am in NZ and spend most of my time posting to insomniacs.

Will not mention temperatures of 25C and throwing things on the BBQ for Christmas dinnerGrin Still miss UK Christmas and sparkling lights showing at 4.15pm - have to wait here until it goes dark at 9pm.

Greetings from a chilly Rajasthan at 7pm local time!
