Really Coddy? - felt a bit like this reading through a few before, but dared to 'venture in' to one last week and dh was amazed at the amount of times I L'dOL. No problems with virtual alcohol and even better if there's a real large red in my hand!

zubb · 27/09/2004 13:47

nope, don't get them either - not ever tried though

Cadbury · 27/09/2004 13:48

I don't care that they don't exist. It's the chatting and having a laugh with people that I enjoy about going out for a drink any way and this is a great way to do that while I can't go out in RL. It did feel wierd at first and I remember coming off the pc telling a bemused dh that I had just been drinking in an imaginary bar with people who were miles away. He didn't understand it either but I think he is starting to get the idea of it. He has just joined mumsnet! I am a bad influence!!!

Cadbury · 27/09/2004 13:48

Hello Aero.

wobblyknicks · 27/09/2004 13:49

Are all fish miserable or is it just you??

I think its nice just to have somewhere to go and chat about not much in particular and nice for those of us that don't see the inside of a bar enough to get in some extra practice so we don't forget what to do when we finally get let out of the house!!!

codswallop · 27/09/2004 13:49

and as for the yurt! ( eye rolling smiley)

I don't 'get' the shops, but I do like the bars. They work for me because they are an open chat thread, ie there is no subject heading so you can just go in a ramble .

zubb · 27/09/2004 13:50

ah WK maybe thats my problem - I have forgotten how to act in a bar!

KateandtheGirls · 27/09/2004 13:51

I didn't even realise there were virtual shops on here, and I have no idea what the yurt is.

Hulababy · 27/09/2004 13:51

I have't tried the shops - don't 'get' it. Used to frequent the bars a lot - not so much now. Didn't really go for the Let's Pretend style though. Normally had real drink in hand, and just chatted to people, rather than ordering virual drinks, etc.

Cadbury · 27/09/2004 13:51

pmsl wk!

agy · 27/09/2004 13:51

I think the bars are probably fun for the people participating. But they don't make for interesting lurking!

Blu · 27/09/2004 13:52

I think they're funny - but i can't type fast enough.

Have missed the virtual shops - where can I find one? They sound like a good idea - all the virtual shops I visit end up with an expensive 'add to basket' button!

agy · 27/09/2004 13:52

Sorry about extra grin!

wobblyknicks · 27/09/2004 13:52

zubb - just shows you, if you'd been in virutal bars earlier that wouldn't have happened - let that be a lesson to you!!!

coddy - do you want me to do my mystical "I could explain but you wouldn't understand" bit??

bran · 27/09/2004 13:52

I like the bars. I haven't been to one for a while, but they're great when there's nothing on tv and all my friends are out when I phone (paranoid thought, perhaps they're just screening because the don't want to talk to me) and I fancy having a chat just for the sake of chatting.

I'm surprised you don't like them coddy. You don't seem to have any problems with talking away about nothing at all .

codswallop · 27/09/2004 13:53

hehehe
yes but its the pretend but I felel gauche at

Kate/Blu - Here is a virtual shop, the Yurt shop.

KateandtheGirls · 27/09/2004 13:55

Then don't pretend - have a real drink in hand.

KateandtheGirls · 27/09/2004 13:56

OK then...

Maybe I'll stick to the bars.

wobblyknicks · 27/09/2004 13:56

We're just exercising our imaginations and wishing we could actually go out and get drunk/have some cake without putting on 4lbs/ sit in a tent and chat. None of us have been certified for it (yet) so it can't be doing any harm!!!

KateandtheGirls · 27/09/2004 14:00

When you put it like that WK it sounds perfectly reasonable!
