....some people can link to a specific post.

I did it once and now I can't do it now.

Would someone kindly tell me how to do it?

Please?

go to the thread you want to link
copy the http address
paste it to where you want it posted
add [[ at front of address
and ]] at end of address

SlightlyMadStar · 18/08/2007 23:20

I can do that. But how do I make it jump to a specific post?

OP posts:
totaleclipse · 18/08/2007 23:21

oh not sure, I think just scroll down to the post you want before copy and pasting.

totaleclipse · 18/08/2007 23:22

Oh I see, read your post wrong, I thought you meant thread, not post.

elesbells · 18/08/2007 23:22

tis right to scroll to the post before you copy and paste.
thats how i do it anyway

SlightlyMadStar · 18/08/2007 23:23

No worries.
I did it earlier and it worked. I thought I had worked out how to do it - but obviously nopt.

OP posts:
SlightlyMadStar · 18/08/2007 23:24

OP posts:
totaleclipse · 18/08/2007 23:24

SlightlyMadStar · 18/08/2007 23:25

OP posts:
SlightlyMadStar · 18/08/2007 23:26

ll pin - did you see the link I did for you on the sahm/bf'ing/dummy thread?????

SaintGeorge · 18/08/2007 23:31

You need the time stamp bit and message number at the end.

so

www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=9&threadid=374042

gives the whole thread

while

www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=9&threadid=374042&stamp=070818231821#7622590

gives a specific post (LittleBellatrixLeBoot on Sat 18-Aug-07 23:18:21)

SlightlyMadStar · 18/08/2007 23:31

What do you mean by "rightclick on the link to copy the link location"

OP posts:
WendyWeber · 18/08/2007 23:32

What lapin said - use MN search for the specific post, by poster name or whatever, which will appear at the top of the page, and then copy the URL (I've no idea how that makes it appear in the right place, but it does!)

WendyWeber · 18/08/2007 23:32

Ohhhh, StG has just explained it perfectly

SlightlyMadStar · 18/08/2007 23:33

arrgggh how do I get teh stamp bit?

OP posts:
TheQueenOfQuotes · 18/08/2007 23:35

ok - has this worked - for littlelapin

WendyWeber · 18/08/2007 23:35

Use MN search for the post that you want to appear at the top of the page - when you've got that to happen, copy the URL which appears in the white box and paste it into your link.

Yeah, that worked QoQ, so apparently you only need the message number, no need for the date.

Do what Wendy send to find the specific post, then you get all thei nfo you need for the URL.

SlightlyMadStar · 18/08/2007 23:37

Arrrrrr you have to use the search facility.....

OP posts:
SaintGeorge · 18/08/2007 23:37

send? said

SaintGeorge · 18/08/2007 23:38

Oooh ll, I like that short cut. I was right clicking in the wrong place so not getting the right options up.
