The @ reply function

Hi @MNHQ!

My @ function to reply to a poster no longer seems to have a full list on the drop down on my iOS app. Is this an error?

I know it's a small thing but it was a useful function when trying to correctly spell nickname idiosyncrasies.

Hi OP

Can we just check that your app is all up to date?

tobee · 10/11/2019 19:22

Hi @LilyMumsnet yes it is!

I'm getting this too - have had this for some time now, and it's really frustrating - it's such a good feature!

NonUrinatInVentum · 11/11/2019 20:11

Me too. Sometimes the poster I want to @ isn't available on the list.

tobee · 11/11/2019 21:31

Yes exactly that @MNHQ. It's especially tricky if you want to mention a poster who has a complicated username and have to remember it!

Samsies

LilyMumsnet · 11/11/2019 22:07

Thanks all - we're looking into it!

Youngatheart00 · 11/11/2019 22:12

Same issue for me - has been for a while - I assumed it must be something to do with user opting out of being @ but maybe not?!

Geppili · 12/11/2019 01:13

Same

Hi, Thanks for reporting this issue. We're taking another look behind the scenes and will let you know when we have more news. Flowers

Thanks!

It would be a good thing if posters who had the @ function switched off (like I do) don't come up on the list.

Difficultcustomer · 12/11/2019 12:04

I’ve seen this - please can someone tell me how it is supposed to work (a link to explanation would be great)
Thanks

KnowMenClature · 13/11/2019 00:52

Yes here too.

Recently @'d nightwatchers for a porn spambot. There were over 100, i think nearer 150 for one to clear up, till someone popped by and managed to pull all the remaining posts and kick the troll out the back door.

They didn't receive emails.

EineKleineNachtwatcher · 13/11/2019 01:24

I still haven't received the email KnowMenClature!

KnowMenClature · 13/11/2019 12:05

Are there bugs in the email at MN Hmm

AnyFucker · 13/11/2019 12:11

There has never been a full list of posters on the thread in the @ list for me

However, I find if you type @ and then the first couple of letters of the username it appears

KnowMenClature · 13/11/2019 12:19

Does it only work with two letters AF and always work with two letters?

Hmm well ive tried that, and its not always worked, as my way of using @ is to start typing rather than select from the list initially.

It remains though that emails are not working.

The point about not being on the list if you deselected @ notifications, doesn't stop people @'ing you though, and makesnit looks like the list doesn't work properly.

TheReluctantCountess · 13/11/2019 12:22

I thought you had to type the name manually - I’ve never had the drop down menu of names.

AnyFucker · 13/11/2019 12:23

It seems to work that way for me KMC but might need more letters if there are similarly-spelled names on the list

KnowMenClature · 13/11/2019 12:34

Doesn't it jump out at you as very poorly written code, AF, that a basic list isn't even organised?

It's pretty sloppy. Its also intuitive when organised, to scroll down, or start eliminating by putting in the first letter and so on.

countess do you have the @ symbol displayed beneath your reply box along with the others?

tobee · 13/11/2019 20:20

It's never had the full list for me. But typing in a couple of letters it popped up. Now it doesn't.

Also sometimes posters from other threads I've been on pop up! Confused

We're sorry this is an issue - clearly we'd like to make it easier rather than harder to find the user you want to @...

We'll chase this up now and see if there's a solution for you all.

Thanks for being patience with us!

tobee · 14/11/2019 16:26

@FlissMumsnet thanks
