Character limit on OP's first post.

As the first post of the OP is reposted on each page, how about a character limit?

Why?

So we have a million posts saying “eh? Is that the end of the story?” While OP writes the second half of their post?

This is the 2nd thread I've seen asking for shorter opening posts in the last week or two.
It doesn't make sense though, as, in most circumstances, you need to 'set the scene' to put whatever the dilemma the OP s posting about, in context.
I'd much rather get all the information at the beginning, than answer something then find the OP changing the whole situation by adding in other information later.
