Did anything happen with the idea of "without in the news" section?

I'm only asking because I cannot remember what happened with this - was it decided that it was not pratical?

I do pop into the news section every so often to see what I have missed, esp if I had not watched the news in the morning. I dont bother with a paper and tend to catch up on stuff via mumsnet section. While I agree that some of the titles are sensationalist, they're often taken from the headlines so no different to seeing a paper.

I udnerstand that others may not want to see these news reports and get annoyed when they're in the "active convs" section, and to be fair, while the news ones do not bother me, I kind of object to those with a lot of swearing in the title (mostly becasue I read at work).

So would the perfect solution to be remove teh in-the-news from active convs if wanted? You can always pop in if you want to see something else?
