Stop deleting things!

Nearly every thread I go on these days ends up deleted for spurious reasons. What's the point of a discussion forum where you can't discuss anything. It's just ridiculous now!

The things I reported last night which were deleted were vile threads started by trolls. Of course they had to go.

Other threads that have gone recently were also obvious goady troll efforts.

JaneJeffer · 30/09/2019 16:11

I don't mean those type. MN knows what I mean!

OP posts:
Collision · 30/09/2019 16:13

I agree

It’s so annoying

Even if they were to leave the thread standing but not able to post, that would be easier.....

HowlsMovingBungalow · 30/09/2019 16:14

Are we not allowed to discuss Influencers?

gostiwooz · 30/09/2019 16:14

MN knows what I mean

I don't though, can you enlarge?

KatherineJaneway · 30/09/2019 16:15

I don't mean those type. MN knows what I mean!

Can you give us an an example? I have no clue what you mean.

TheBlackApple · 30/09/2019 16:16

Ironic in that it's just directing traffic elsewhere, to the very sites the original thread was asking to be shut down.

There was very good factual discussion on those threads, not trolling or "speculation".

DeRigueurMortis · 30/09/2019 16:22

Apparently not Howl....

The thread about a thread reason is spurious re: the second deletion.

There were two different threads on the same topic. One more general re: thoughts on the matter, the other one where the OP was initially suggesting that a particular site (related to "the matter") ought to be banned, but subsequently changed their mind.

It's an important topic that we should be allowed to discuss and the fact we seem unable to ironically supports the (far from pleasant) website allowing such discussions that people are complaining about.

Herocomplex · 30/09/2019 16:24

Maybe the bandying about of threats by one of the people the thread was about has made them cautious.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 30/09/2019 16:25

The irony of it all.

JessicaPeach · 30/09/2019 16:25

And it wasn't a thread about a thread. Poor show Mumsnet.

AutumnCrow · 30/09/2019 16:37

Oooohh

NoTheresa · 30/09/2019 17:10

Agreed.

Pinkyyy · 30/09/2019 17:13

I've clearly missed something.

KatherineJaneway · 30/09/2019 17:30

Me too. Feel like I am in a spy movie

NerrSnerr · 30/09/2019 17:33

I wouldn't worry about missing it. It was a thread about 'influencers' and people who clearly spend a lot of time following them across social media moaning about them.

LolaSmiles · 30/09/2019 17:33

What I still find confusing is how such obviously goady threads are allowed to stand, but then other threads go poof.

MemphisMum · 30/09/2019 17:46

2 threads about influencers....gone

JaneJeffer · 30/09/2019 18:11

Well I didn't say what it was about because then I would have started a thread about a thread Grin

OP posts:
DeRigueurMortis · 30/09/2019 18:24

Technically there are no threads about "the matter" since they were both zapped, so I'm not sure it's possible to have another TAAT on the subject....

JaneJeffer · 30/09/2019 18:27

True!

OP posts:
Collision · 30/09/2019 18:49

What is The Matter?

DeRigueurMortis · 30/09/2019 19:00

First rule of "the matter" is that you don't talk about "the matter" on MN anyway seemingly. Wink

zebrasdontwearbras · 30/09/2019 19:04

The moderation used to be much more light handed when I joined many years ago. Now it's far more heavy. There are also some ridiculously heavy handed deletions on the Feminism section - with stuff like "yawn" being deleted on occasion Confused

Why aren't you allowed to talk about "Influencers" (hate that term) ?

Collision · 30/09/2019 21:37

I’ve been here 18 years and still don’t understand what is going on.
