I keep getting pop ups saying 'Oi you', sign up for the emails.

I don't really like being 'Oi'ed.

I haven't seen anything like that. Sounds infuriating!

WhatsGoingOn3 · 26/09/2019 20:02

YANBU! I have seen that pop up several times but what I find unbelievably annoying to the point of wanting to throw my iPad across the room is that EVERY time I go onto a new page the pop up that requires me to accept mumsnet cookies comes up. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. 😡😡😡😡😡

FortunaMajor · 26/09/2019 20:15

If I had to eat a real cookie every time Mumsnet insists I accept them, I'd be really fucking fat.

simonisnotme · 26/09/2019 20:22

its bloody annoying , every time I have a shufty on my phone it pops up

Kolo · 26/09/2019 20:32

Yep! Annoying. Surely I only have to tell them once that I’m not interested?

And as for the cookies thing - drives me bananas. Every time I have to accept cookies, it logs me out, so I have to log in again. Happens multiple times a day, sometimes every few minutes. I either stop bothering to post or I give up on MN completely and do something else.

Pharlapwasthebest · 26/09/2019 20:46

@WhatsGoingOn3
Me too! It’s so annoying.

ClaraMumsnet · 26/09/2019 20:51

Hi, thanks for flagging this. We're sorry we're annOI!ing you. This sounds like a tech issue, so we're going to move it to site stuff. Can we just check if this is happening when you're signed in? It should only appear if you're signed out.

Aaarrgghhh · 26/09/2019 22:28

Yet another tech issue? What’s going on around here..

CleopatraTomato · 27/09/2019 08:51

I'm not signed in on my phone so every time I check the site for an update it pops up and blocks the screen. I do not want emails. I have enough rubbish in my inbox as it is. We can get "notified" everytime someone mentions us in a post if we choose. Surely that is enough.

AmyGMumsnet · 27/09/2019 10:08

Good morning, thanks so much for bringing this to our attention - and we're sorry you've all been Oi'd around the site. This pop up is one of a batch of tests we're running at the moment that are specifically targeted to logged out users, so if you sign in you won't see it any more.

That said, it seems to be showing on every page for logged out users which certainly isn't right. We're going to stop them running now and look into what's going on.

I'm not sure if the frequency of the pop ups is connected in any way to the cookie acceptance banner or if they're separate issues so will make some enquiries. Thanks!

AmyGMumsnet · 27/09/2019 10:30

I've just spoken to Tech and the cookies issue isn't related to the pop ups - they are looking at that separately.

Jarstastic · 28/09/2019 12:57

Thanks.
Yes would be when I'm logged out, sometimes I clear all my browser cache. I have been getting a lot, but it is mainly a language rather than tech issue for me.

I hate that too. The wording is rude for a start.

NoTheresa · 30/09/2019 17:13

I find I only have to shift accidentally and I have to log in again. Thus happens umpteen times. It is getting ridiculous.

NoTheresa · 30/09/2019 17:14

This

I posted this last week. YANBU.

So pointless having it for logged out users too! If it popped up ONCE when logged in, you may actually choose to sign up for the emails (although why anyone would voluntarily ask for spam emails I don’t know).

Targeting people who can’t even be arsed to sign in (me 80% of the time) and would rather just browse active posts than bother actually signing in surely means they’re not going to bother signing up either?! Bizarre decision. And super annoying message.
