Android app users- how do you see new thread posts?

Hi all. I've recently made the switch from iPhone to android. Downloaded the Mumsnet app on my new phone and noticed straight away that on my iPhone new unread posts used to be shaded in my "I'm watching" and "I'm on" lists so that I could see straight away which threads had new posts. However on my huawei all thread icons are the same colour which is a pain in the bum as I have to click on each thread to see if there's any updates. Can anyone advise if this is normal for the android app and if not is there a way for me to change the settings so that I can see this? Thanks :)

Having just done a previous search I can see other users who've gone from iPhone to android have also found the android app to be really clunky in comparison. Can someone from mumsnet hq advise as to whether there are any plans to make the app better for android users? (ie more like the iPhone app?) I'd also agree with previous posters that buttons on the android app aren't in as obvious places and the whole thing feels 'cheaper' and more basic than on apple, why is this please?

Is the app any better than the web version? Have to say I've never had any problems using the mobile website as opposed to the app on my android.

Might try that, thanks RaymondStopThat. Even now I had to backtrack from reply to double check your username- on the apple app you can do that and it saves what you'd typed, but as I just discovered on android it deletes your message and doesn't facilitate linking to posters with @. Just feels like a huge downgrade from the iPhone app which feels bizarre given that my new phone is actually better spec than most iPhones! 🤦🏻‍♀️
First World problem I suppose but will likely mean I use mumsnet less and less.

So the app just crashes every time I try and start a new thread (or won't let me change the thread topic) so I've come on the website and still can't see a way to start a new topic. Maybe I'm doomed on mumsnet to just this one thread from now on! At least I got an email from someone at mumsnet acknowledging how utterly crap the android app is.

Hi @mummabubs - I'm sorry to hear it's not up to standard! We're aware of a number of the issues you mentioned, but your feedback is still really helpful. We're aiming to get these bugs in the Android app fixed, but unfortunately it can take a while. In the meantime, thanks for your patience!
