Personal advertising banners at top of pages

For the past couple of weeks or so I have been receiving ad banners at the top of whatever page I'm on .

If they were just generic I wouldn't mind, but these are from Ebay, and are showing many of the items I have recently viewed /bought.

This to me is really invasive, and is making me want to leave mumsnet altogether as I feel the bombardment of advertising at the public is far too aggressive to begin with. Are we to lose our privacy via the side door on here too?

Mumsnet - what is this, and what will you do about it.

Are you sure they are Mumsnet generated adds and not Google Ads showing? You need to clear and then restrict the cookies in your browser to stop this from happening.

Hi there @FlamingoFlamenco,

@MediocreOmens has got it right, this is the usual situation of Google Ads targeting users specifically rather than any intrusive advertising from us. You can change your privacy settings by clicking on the privacy toggle at the bottom of the page, which should prevent this.

We hope this makes sense but do let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you both for your helpful replies.

I'll have a go with the settings and see what happens - fingers crossed I get it right!.
