You cannot delete them yourself. Why do they need deleting?

QuestionableMouse · 06/07/2019 01:05

You can't. You could name change which gives you a new username though.

Username415 · 06/07/2019 01:06

thanks for replying foolish. ive been outed in rl

Username415 · 06/07/2019 01:09

OP posts:
Username415 · 06/07/2019 01:11

Some posts have already been found.

OP posts:
SamBeckett · 06/07/2019 01:11

@pinkground202,
No they wont or there would be no point in changing your username

Username415 · 06/07/2019 01:14

So can I keep my account with a new username but delete everything on my old username?

OP posts:
SamBeckett · 06/07/2019 01:15

you could try to report you own messages and as MNHQ to delete them but that would be time consuming ,

unless you have said something very contentious I wouldn't worry , just NC a few times over the next few days to lose yourself

SamBeckett · 06/07/2019 01:19

you can not delete anything only MNHQ can do that but if you report yourself and explain what happened they will help you .
or i can report you if you want

Username415 · 06/07/2019 01:21

thanks Sam
Am hoping mumsnet get back to me soon!

Report your own post on this thread and explain what you want in the box

RubberTreePlant · 06/07/2019 01:24

MNHQ have to do it. Deregistering won't do it. You're unlikely to get a response now, it's 1.30am UK time.

If there are just a couple of particularlyawkward posts you want to prioritise, you could try posting on the Nightwatch board and see if one of the NW volunteers would be willing to hide them.

SamBeckett · 06/07/2019 01:29

In my experience they respond much faster to a reported thread than they do a email but @Rubber is right it is silly oclock and even MNHQ is allowed to sleep

Username415 · 06/07/2019 01:29

Thank you so much rubber tree

areukiddingme · 06/07/2019 01:40

Omg bless you, did you change your username but gave so much specific info that anyone that remotely knows you guessed it was you? Just like 80% of people here who do the same, it baffles me why you all think that changing from, poniesrcool to Ihatechesse makes you a new person...

Username415 · 06/07/2019 01:59

No.. it wasn’t a name change problem .
I think maybe I need to stop using mn
Once you’ve been outed in RL I feel like you can always be found .
I’ll see what mn hq say in the morning but thanks to anyone who took the time to answer.

I found my dil online a couple years ago, badmouthing me (mil) in the typical way. We’ve recovered.

It’s worrying to hear there is someone in your life who presents such a threat. Why are they able to stop you doing something you presumaby enjoy or gain support from?

JenMumsnet · 06/07/2019 09:50

Hi OP,
We have emailed you a response.

stillmoving · 06/07/2019 10:23

I don't think you have to stop using Mumsnet so much as just be a bit careful what you write. I change my name quite a bit and will sometimes alter names/age/sex of my DC's just to keep things different. I wouldn't post anything too serious; if I had anything, but also if I did I would alter a few details. Some people post every detail of their families/abusive relationships without considering how putting that can be.
