Ok, it's teeny tiny but it irritates me every single time I go to post. One answer is, of course, to post less and that might not be a bad thing but please can you fix this before i explode in a cloud of dragon scented smoke?

You can sort of make AS work if you just go in and doctor the URL so it looks proper. The issue with the broken links is either a missing /talk/ or an extra one (some get none, some get two) so it's fairly easy to delete/add as appropriate. It's a pain in the arse but it means the search semi works as a temporary fix.
