Stupid "bookmark" option

Whisky2014 · 23/06/2019 09:39

Has the bookmark option always been visible at the bottom right of posts?
I don't remember it previously but as I scroll I keep hitting the sodding bookmark button which automatically bookmarks it BUT if I try to unclick it, its not registered and doesn't un-bookmark the post.
It's doing my head in! How do I switch it off and why doesn't need to be there instead of within the three dot section?

I like it !

Whisky2014 · 23/06/2019 09:59

Why?! If you comment on a thread or watch it, that is sufficient, no?

On a long thread it's really useful to pick up where you started again.

I've never hit it by accident.

WeShouldOpenABar · 23/06/2019 10:04

I like that they've moved it, now all they have to do is add watch this thread to the bottom of the thread so I can bookmark and watch at the same time and I'll be happy

SMaCM · 23/06/2019 10:05

I love it. I go back to a thread and it takes me straight to where I left off. I've never used it by mistake.

AnyFucker · 23/06/2019 10:05

One click bookmarking. What's not to like.

Rollerbird · 23/06/2019 10:07

I like it now.
I kept hitting the 3 dots accidentally before I realised it had changed
Much easier now

Whisky2014 · 23/06/2019 10:10

One click bookmarking. What's not to like.
Because I keep clicking it accidentally on every bloody thread! And it won't let me unlick it!

It will stop all the posters who constantly placemark. I find placemarking very annoying. It adds nothing while they are waiting for an update from op. Bookmark has always been there but it is more visible now. It used to be on a dropdown menu but very few used it.

AnyFucker · 23/06/2019 10:12

Yep. I'd like the one click bookmark option to also automatically watch the thread. Why else do you bookmark if you dpn't want to follow it ?

In fact "follow" which includes bookmarking makes more sense to the way I use MN. That might not work for everyone though. I don't use "watch" at all. Too many clicks (lazy)

AnyFucker · 23/06/2019 10:14

I agree it would be helpful if you could unclick it

Whisky2014 · 23/06/2019 10:31

I also don't use the "watch thread".
@mnhq are you able to make the bookmark selection turn off if you click it for a 2nd time?

jackparlabane · 23/06/2019 10:45

What's the difference between watching and bookmarking?

SMaCM · 23/06/2019 13:51

On my app the bookmark goes away if I click it again.

Watching keeps the thread on your watching list. Bookmarking will take you to exactly where you finished reading.

NotTerfNorCis · 11/08/2019 21:04

I'm finding this feature annoying. I've bookmarked 3 posts by accident so far and they're highlighted now no matter what I do! How can I get rid of bookmarks?

nothingwittyhere · 12/08/2019 13:02

Just click on the bookmark word again.

Oneborneverydecade · 14/08/2019 13:30

Doesn't work for me 🤷🏻‍♀️
