Unusable with IOS 9 Safari private mode

Since Friday, when using private-mode Safari on IOS 9.3.5 (iPad) I have been unable to dismiss the "cookies consent" box. Clicking "I accept" doesn't do anything.

Turning off private mode makes the "I accept" button respond, as does using private mode on IOS 12 - but I like my current iPad setup! Could your technical team please look into getting private-mode IOS 9 Safari working again?

(The "cookies consent" box is the message "We and our partners use technology such as cookies on our site to personalise content and ads, provide social media features, and analyse our traffic. Click below to consent to the use of this technology across the web. You can change your mind and change your consent choices at anytime by returning to this site".)

Hi there, we'll flag this to the tech team.

Thanks @EstherMumsnet for passing on my query. Did the tech team have an explanation for the change in behaviour? I'm unfortunately still experiencing the same problem. It seems desirable to allow users to browse in private mode - some posters would not wish to disclose their activity to people with whom they share a computer.
