Could you give us one to use please.
It would be very useful.

Please don't. It wouid serve thebsame function as a 'like' button, wouid it not? And we all know what people think of that.

beanaseireann · 15/06/2019 13:42

What's the like button ?

OP posts:
ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/06/2019 13:43

I’m not keen.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 15/06/2019 13:44

👍🏻

Sparklingbrook · 15/06/2019 13:45

No thanks

EdWinchester · 15/06/2019 13:46

Why?

beanaseireann · 15/06/2019 13:55

If you didn't like it you wouldn't have to use it Smile
I'm on the app and can't see a like button.

OP posts:
AuntieStella · 15/06/2019 14:01

That's because there isn't a like button, because it has been so roundly rejected by users.

Having an emoticon to do the job if a like button wouid change MN, because instead of people posting us No words, there would just be a list of single emoticon posts. Which would destroy conversation. Whether you used them yourself or not.

Now, other sites with other norms have them. I know that, and people can still be very happy with those sites and their other customs. It does not mean that MN shouid become like them.

SoupDragon · 15/06/2019 14:02

It would be very useful.

More useful than actual words?

Sparklingbrook · 15/06/2019 14:07

Its MN Talk- the clue is in the name. Type some words, no Like buttons or thumbs up emojis.

AuntieStella · 15/06/2019 14:08

It's a chat site, not an emoji-swapping site.

A thumbs up is just a like button by another name. Not keen.

After all, do you know if MilkTwoSugars is agreeing with the immediately preceding post, or with the OP? Whereas if she'd typed out an opinion in words, there would be no doubt which was meant.

SauvignonBlanche · 15/06/2019 14:09

DramaAlpaca · 15/06/2019 14:10

No thank you. Use actual words. I'm sure most phones have a suitable emoji if you absolutely must.
