Probably still time to organise it... not sure how nominations and voting would take place? What would the categories be?

  • Funniest MN-er
  • Best MN-er in a supporting role
  • Most eloquent poster
  • ?
  • ?
  • ?

Prizes could be awarded at the glamourous christmas party...

or how about everyone who wants to participate can put themselves up for nomination....

Blu · 15/09/2004 16:18

Can I win the Most 'too politically and emotionally sensitive for their own good' award? And then flounce off in tears at the ceremony?

Tortington · 15/09/2004 16:21

thanks for posting that link soupy ahhhhh them were the days, i quite miss it in truth.

lou33 · 15/09/2004 16:23

I wouldn't be keen.

Mo2 · 15/09/2004 16:35

Custardo/ Soupy - thanks for the link - I'd forgotten about that thread (even though I didn't participate I remember reading it and laughing later...) I miss it too

Galaxy - mo2 has clearly overtaken you in the most controversial thread award, so now worries there

I propose MN 4x4 driver of the year, Muslim, parent of most circumcised sons / most gifted child, Closest adherence to GF routines - (and lifestyle ), most 'non-parents occupying p&t spaces run over in road-rage incidents in one afternoon', categories, and a special 'Services to MN' lifetime award for the MN-er who completes a Supermarket dash having eaten the most unpaid for grapes.

That should esue that we all enjoy the peaceful spirit of yuletide, shouldn't it?

The MN with the biggest house should, of course, host the ceremony.

SoupDragon · 15/09/2004 17:17

There was a spin off thread too...

oooh no don't start on it what about the fated prefect thread or whatever it was???

Must say have been few allegations of cliquiness lately

CountessDracula · 15/09/2004 17:43

or maybe I am just so ignored by the cliques that I haven't even noticed them ;)

WideWebWitch · 15/09/2004 20:31

Ooh Pamina, I was on that original thread I think I'd just joined (dif name)!

marthamoo · 15/09/2004 20:38

Not one person mentioned me on the "What do you love about other people?" thread.....

jampot · 15/09/2004 20:42

Marff, does it cheer you up to know I've been wondering where you were over the past couple of weeks?

marthamoo · 15/09/2004 20:58

A little

colinsmommy · 15/09/2004 21:21

I would have mentioned you Jampot if I had been aware of the thread. I still am halfway tempted to post on it even though it is inactive.

tigermoth · 16/09/2004 13:51

I've said it before (on other threads) and I'll say it again - No........

It's just not fun IMO.

Taken to extremes (and I know you didn't mean it like this Mo2 - but still I will say it) how sad if people started pitching their messages on mumsnet in order to gain a fan club.

Blu · 16/09/2004 14:03

Ooh, Tigermoth - i had'nt thought of people doing that!

What a good idea......

jodee · 16/09/2004 14:08

Oh no, not that thread, Pamina! !

Can I make a suggestion? Now this isn't my idea, I cribbed it from the Moneysavingexpert.com site, so I'm coping and pasting below the message from there so change the content to suit this site, see what you think:

"I am instituting a new site award. Each month you will be able to nominate a post by a member of the site which you think has been either extremely helpful or useful.

It can be either a general use tip of real resonance, which lots of people have gained from for example 'cancel T-mobile loophole', 'BMI flights cheap', 'free sky channels'

Or a personally useful post where someone has gone way above the call of duty to help out someone else.

Each month I will start a thread where you can nominate threads or post you think I should consider. At the end of the month, I will look through them and make a decision as to that month's winner, who will then receive a cheque for £50 to say thank you."

What do you think? Obviously this is for Carrie, Justine and Rachel to decide!

blossomhill · 16/09/2004 14:09

Haven't read this read but would have to say no. Very corny!
