Mumsnet HQ ....

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do something about the infuriatingly annoying ads in the side bar.
I DO NOT WANT ANY Mohea crappy tea and I do not want a job but these adverts are flashing and flashing and flashing ALL THE SODDING TIME!
I get that you have to advertise but these DO NOT GO AWAY.
THEY DO NOT STOP
They flash and move and flash incessantly while I am reading a page.. and move down the page with the article and flash and flash.... It is making the site unusable. Like someone shining a light in my eye.

WHY??

I know you need adverts to make your billions so you can all retire rich. But do you have to do it at the expense of driving me insane?

Can I not see the ad once and then mute it? Can it not stop flashing and jumping and honestly ... just pissing me off SO MUCH that I will NEVER EVER BUY THAT SHITTY TEA even if I was dying of thirst.

Please ... for my sanity can you just NOT!

Hi OP

We need the usual - screenshots, device/browser etc. Also, the last thing we want to do is annoy the crap out of you - SORRY!

We're certainly happy to take a look at what's going on here, so give us the extras and we can check it out.

Firefox on Windows 10 both up to date
laptop
The tea adds flash on and off constantly - a flickering text box opening and closing, loading and reloading so white then there again.
Now there is a groupon one too but that is at least staionary but keeps loading so going white then back.
and the job advert flashes and jumps around - on and off - it is migraine inducing!

Adblocker is your friend. No epilepsy inducing shite here!

EvaHarknessRose · 17/04/2019 14:31

Mumsnet, I started a thread recently about the same ad having been on my screen continually for what seems like at least two years.

Clearing cookies didn’t help, adblocker does of course.

EvaHarknessRose · 17/04/2019 14:32

Safari on ipad for me

ginghamstarfish · 17/04/2019 14:34

Yes, I must say that annoying ads of any kind mean that I will NEVER buy that product ... so a bit counterproductive!

YouDancin · 17/04/2019 14:35

@EvaHarknessRose - bonkers isn't it - I don't drink tea - I'm certainly not going to drink this one - ever

Looking into Adblocker ... although is a wok's laptop and we are restricted to which programs we are allowed to use.

  • or a work's laptop. Might try it as a wok

It's much quieter on the mobile site, OP! I only see one small ad across the top and another, slightly larger, one at the bottom of the page just above the reply box.

@youdancin I don’t know, I have found myself quite fancying a glass teapot, after seeing it for so long 😂 but the tea, no way!

CKWattisthemanager · 17/04/2019 16:39

Using the computer as a wok is certainly one solution Grin

LilyMumsnet · 17/04/2019 18:57

Thanks all, we're looking into it. Flowers

EmpressLesbianInChair · 17/04/2019 19:00

It's much quieter on the mobile site, OP!

When I’m on my desktop I scroll right to the bottom & change it to mobile. Much more comfortable.

LilyMumsnet · 17/04/2019 19:34

Hi all

After taking a look at the screenshots, we can't see anything out of place here - so nothing dodgy going on. We do run adverts to keep the lights on, but we'll pass your feedback on with regards to this particular ad.

YouDancin · 19/04/2019 14:38

@LilyMumsnet of course you cannot see the flashing on a still photograph /screenshot!!
As I said it is the CONSTANT flashing, moving and changing. This is what is so annoying.
