Deleting threads

Serious question. What criteria does MNHQ use when a poster requests that their thread is deleted? More and more lately it seems that threads are disappearing, often when it’s apparent that the OP isn’t getting the response they wanted. Often the reason stated is that OP is concerned about privacy issues, which they clearly weren’t too concerned about when they posted. It would be interesting to know how MNHQ deals with these requests as from this side, it seems that disgruntled posters just have to ask and it’s done.

We're really sorry you're not happy with thread deletions. Whilst we don't discuss individual thread deletions or moderation decisions on the boards, we do try to avoid deleting threads wherever possible. In exceptional circumstances we do delete threads to protect a user's privacy, but we take each decision on a case by case basis.
