Threads I'm on appearing in threads I'm watching

I couldn't see if anyone else has reported this.

Why is it that when I comment on a thread, it appears in my watched threads? I don't need it there. I can already see it in threads I'm on.

I like to watch threads sometimes, without commenting and then I have to scroll past everything else on watching to find them.

When you comment on a thread there's a box underneath that is automatically ticked to 'watch this thread' so just untick it. Like I am about to do.

Not on my iPad or iPhone.

I haven't looked on my laptop.

Wouldn't it be easier to opt in to watch it, seeing as it automatically goes into 'I'm on' anyway?
