MNHQ keep erasing messages without stating why?

frankiesamson · 30/01/2019 16:58

I posted this in the wrong place by mistake, so I'm posting it here Smile.

I thought the MNHQ mods are only allowed to erase messages for breaking forum guidelines? Yet they seem to be breaking their own guidelines by erasing messages simply because they disagreeing with the personal points of view expressed in the post. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have never attacked anyone or called anyone names, nor have I ever been homophobic, transphobic or broken any forum guidelines, yet one of the MNHQ staff has recently taken to trawling through my posts & erasing them for no reason. This particular MNHQ staff member puts in its place "read forum guidelines."- but I have read them, and my posts didn't break them! When I ask for clarification, the MNHQ staff goes quiet.

Some of my erased posts were so innocuous & supporting the forum (such as suggesting people tolerate each other's differences of opinion & express theirs without personal attacks). I'm convinced this member of MNHQ staff might be following me & trolling me (probably has done it to others too).

Is there anyone moderating the MNHQ mods?

Like many others, I'm afraid to post anything on this forum anymore

Email them about it, the talk guidelines are not very specific.

Hi @frankiesamson - we've emailed you so that we can discuss all of the issues raised further.

frankiesamson · 30/01/2019 20:33

Hi OP

To be honest, we're really not sure how your posts were deleted if they didn't break talk guidelines.

If they haven't broken talk guidelines, we'll more than happily backtrack and reinstate. That being said, we're not really where these deletions have happened.

We're going to PM you now for some more info, if you could respond there then that would be great.

frankiesamson · 31/01/2019 16:43

Glad to know I'm not the only one who isn't sure what guidelines they broke! Because they didn't break any. Does anyone moderate the moderators? Just out of interest.

My deleted posts were on the Michael Jackson thread. It took me some time to type them, with a lot of thought.

Hi OP,

We've PMd you with reasons for your deletions - please do take a look.

frankiesamson · 31/01/2019 20:11

Thanks, but there doesn't seem to be any pm button on the iPhone app, which is what I use to access the forum. Can you just post the reasons here? Is there any particular reason why you don't want anyone to see it?

I had a comment deleted, when I saw it had been deleted. I reported it and asked why and I was told the reason.
If you look at the comment from MNHQ at the top right hand corner it says message poster. So message them

Stardustinmyeyes · 31/01/2019 20:17

Whoops, sorry frankiesamson
I misunderstood your post.

NorthEndGal · 31/01/2019 20:23

It should be available to you at the top of the screen, to access your pms

Ginger1982 · 31/01/2019 21:00

In the app, click on the 3 line icon at the top right of the screen and then click My Mumsnet and it'll take you to your inbox.

frankiesamson · 31/01/2019 21:47

@Ginger1982 I tried that already, the three lines at the top just offers to let you change your username , still no pm option

Hi there @frankiesamson,

We don't really talk about individual moderations on the boards.

If you could get to a computer and check your PMs, that would be great.

We do need Mumsnetters to have a working email address to post on the boards, as at times we may well need to get in touch with you. We hope you understand.

CallMeSirShotsFired · 01/02/2019 10:00

OP is right, there is no messages option on the iPhone app. I always have to go on the desktop version to send them (although I can access them if I click the link in the email that gets sent to tell me I have received one)

TheRhythmlessMan · 01/02/2019 17:33

A way to check PMs on the app would be 👍👍👍!

Ginger1982 · 01/02/2019 17:35

I can check my pms on the app quite easily!

TheRhythmlessMan · 01/02/2019 17:49

Thank you so much @Ginger1982 you've changed my life Grin

marcopront · 01/02/2019 18:06

I never knew you could check on the iPhone app. All my messages were from more than 4 years ago so t didn't help that much.

CallMeSirShotsFired · 01/02/2019 18:09

Well I never....!

I get taken to a login screen. Just the small matter of trying to remember my password now! I'd rather not have to rest it and change it.

planespotting · 01/02/2019 18:12

The 🏆 goes to @Ginger1982Smile👍🏻

GinaCarbonara · 01/02/2019 18:13

It's not actually in the app, it just brings up the internet browser on your phone and you can view them from there.

planespotting · 01/02/2019 18:14

Oh dear I had a message from a month ago!

Ginger1982 · 01/02/2019 18:28

Lol, pleased I could help! 😆
