I changed my username then tried to revert to the old one. I can't do it! What do I do?

What error did you get?

slipslidingaway4 · 01/02/2019 22:28

Just won't work! Says the name is already taken, but it's mine!

When you name change you give up that username I think. So seems like someone else has now used it. Don’t think there is anything that you can do.

@MynameisJune No, that's not true - usernames aren't usable by anyone else on Mumsnet once you've claimed one. We've always also had the option to switch back whenever we wanted, so this case is a bit of an anomaly.

You should be able to type your old name into the box showing your current name & it will change your name for that post.

If you want to change it so that it defaults to the name, you do it by going to your account, but I think you can only do it on the desktop site, not the app.

Once you've registered a username nobody else can use it, it's forever linked to your account. You haven't lost it, don't worry.

Did you change your name in settings , that is add another one, or reregister with a different email address ?

Ive tried doing all of the above but nothing works. Really odd.
