Are you ever going to update the prehistoric forum system?

Folks shouldn't have to contact support to have their comments and posts deleted. It's absurd.

We need to be able to edit posts to correct typos, or remove them ourselves if we feel like it. Perhaps only allow edits and deletions within a certain timescale, but really this place is so behind the times it's not funny. Please live in the now and modernise the forum!

Thank you.

Please keep it as it is!

There are oodles of other sites with different functions and customs, and people are free to choose them.

This site is popular just as it is, and populated by users who like it just as it is.

AssassinatedBeauty · 27/01/2019 23:37

Nope, leave it as it is. There is a reason why edits and deletions aren't available, it's not because MNHQ are behind the times, it's an active decision to keep the style of the site.

Oswin · 27/01/2019 23:38

Much better like this. It would be awful if people could edit comments.

AnyaMumsnet · 28/01/2019 11:39

Hi there OP,

Thanks for getting in touch about this.

We don't actually have any plans to allow users to edit or delete posts. We do this on purpose, to stop posters re-writing history and making a mess of the boards. Of course we do always welcome any suggestions for improvements to Mumsnet, and do consider them carefully, so if you have any others please do let us know.

GnothiSeafton · 28/01/2019 15:36

OP, you can edit if you use Preview Message prior to actually posting your comment. Preview - correct - post!

And as for editing or deleting your own posts afterwards, then it can change the entire thread, as Anya said.

CMOTDibbler · 28/01/2019 15:38

I like it as it is. People deleting and editing their posts mean they can change the story completely

And what about the one when Chaos first got her twatphone? Grin Grin

Nah we don't, people would just rewrite what they wrote and mess up the boards.

But you don't need to hang about if you don't like it.

SilverySurfer · 29/01/2019 21:48

I'm happy with the way it is. See no reason for change. The answer to correcting typos is to read your post before posting, not after.

There are plenty of other forums that don’t allow editing Of Posts! I can see why MN don’t...

ScreamingValenta · 30/01/2019 17:19

I like it as it is.

Get rid of the need to bookmark - just go straight to last read post as is common with all forums.

AwdBovril · 30/01/2019 18:09

I love typos. Not my own, obviously. Anyone remember the slow cooked porn thread?

OP - just use the preview option prior to posting.
