Is there a way to contest a ban?

I've seen posts by MNHQ before about temporary bans for longstanding members (such as this one: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/1891620-Why-we-temporarily-banned-Anyfucker-and-what-next) but it seems if you're not mumsnet famous, you can get IP banned for ones single [satirical] post, with no warnings, no chance to come back, nothing.

Is there any way of talking to MNHQ about it? Or is that just it?

Just email them and discuss it, they’re quite reasonable.

Ok, will do. Thanks.

Hello OP. We've banned you because you're a previously banned poster and we'll continue to ban new registrations from you. If you want to discuss it further, do drop us a line at [email protected].

Nice and succinct, Becky! Grin

When I got banned, MNHQ were fab at getting to the bottom of it and I've had no problems since Smile

There must be quite a few PBP on MN, your IP address changes when you change ISP and my ISP uses dynamic IP addresses if you opt in so your IP address is not the same each time.
