"A problem occurred with this website so it was reloaded"

I've been getting this message at the top of the screen for two days now: "A problem occurred with this website so it was reloaded".

My iPad keeps reloading the page I'm reading every couple of minutes so I keep losing my place on threads - and it's driving me mad! I'm using safari on iPad and am reading the desktop version. It's been happening for a couple of days now.

It's only happening on mumsnet; all other websites are fine.

Is this happening to anyone else? I have to save my place on posts every few posts and it's very annoying.

LTB?

Is your iPad up to date with software updates, that can sometimes cause certain sites to misbehave

pipandposy · 18/12/2018 15:11

Thanks for your reply. I'll admit that it isn't! Now that it's almost a couple of years old I'm too scared to update as updating my last iPad when it was a couple of years old killed it (made it so slow that it was unusable). I'd risk it if I was having trouble elsewhere too but every other website is fine.

I got the wording slightly wrong - it says web page not website.

Hi OP

Would you mind updating it your end? This should solve any issues/glitches but if it doesn't, give us a shout.

This happens to me all the time with a new iPad.

I started a thread on this which MNHQ studiously ignored Grin

So giving you a shout here!!!!!

pipandposy · 21/12/2018 11:36

If it was happening on other websites then I'd risk it but updating my last iPad once it got to a couple of years old ruined it (I'm not the only person this has happened to; there was an article recently where they admitted that they did do something to slow the phones once they reached a certain age - it must be the same with iPads). All other sites are fine so I don't want to risk it!

Thank you Ariadne! It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one.

Pipandposy this is an ongoing problem with iPads, as you will see on the other thread that Aridane linked to above.
I’ve stopped looking at MN on my iPad (apart from occasionally checking to see if it’d been resolved) for the past three months. Just look on my phone now. iPad for any other site is fine, so definitely a MN problem.

pipandposy · 21/12/2018 11:43

Sorry for getting your name wrong - Aridane!

Thanks FadedRed. That's disappointing.

Happens on my iPhone too. But like you op, it’s old and I’m scared to update!

pipandposy · 04/01/2019 23:20

Update: I updated the iOS as I was informed that despite me having owned this iPad Pro for ages the same version is still on sale. And it has solved the problem! I hate the changes that it’s made to my iPad but mumsnet works properly so all is good :)

Yes, I'm having the reloading page all the time. Also on an old iPad, which I won't be updating, as this is the only site it's happening on.

AnyaMumsnet · 07/01/2019 11:44

Hi there @NanTheWiser,

Thanks for getting in touch, and sorry to hear you're having this problem.

We know it's a bit of a faff, but we do suggest you try updating the software, as it seemed to work for OP.

Aridane · 07/01/2019 12:40

But it doesn't work for oth with new iPads and current software (eg me!) and the posters on the earlier three n this topic!

Justhadathought · 07/01/2019 17:00

Having trouble accessing the site via google today - only managed to get here in a round about way. Quite strange! I'm glad it is not just me....was thinking I'd been hacked or something.
