Can we have a more usable set of search functions, please?

On long threads, it would be useful to be able to search within that thread.

It would be helpful to be able to link to specific posts more easily so that answers can be grouped more readily.

Hi there arranfan,

Thanks so much for your suggestions, we'll take a look and discuss them at HQ.

We're not sure if you're aware, but if you're using Mumsnet on a computer, you can always press 'Ctrl F' to search a webpage, so that might help you when searching a thread - although it might be a bit tough if the thread is across several pages.

Do let us know if you have any more suggestions.

I do use Ctrl F etc. but sometimes I know a thread exists and I remember some of the search terms but I can't find it even using Advanced Search.

Even when I do find a thread (that might have 1000 responses) and I've found the post that I want, if I click on it from Advanced Search, sometimes it drops me onto the front page rather than take me to the post so then I have to search through for the date stamp and time to locate it.

And, it would be useful to have a direct link to individual posts as they don't always work and sometimes the only work around is to give the date and time for an individual post.

On a similar theme but different tool, are there any plans to introduce a "quote function" to make it easier to respond to people in a thread without having to copy and paste the test, bold it, try and remember the correct version of the username, etc.?
