We sometimes have problems at weekends when I guess traffic is heavier but today can't seem to stay connected for 5 minutes and it is so slow - aargh . Anyone else ?

I have had very similar problems, try calling BT and asking them what your speed is. I was told mine was up to 5 meg, when it turns out I am getting less than one meg.
I threatened to leave BT and although they cannot do much about the speed, they gave me a new router and broadband phone free and reduced my monthly bill!

LIZS · 08/06/2007 13:36

interesting , we already have a new router which we paid for because they screwed up the connection when we moved and said ours would be too slow to work with the latest connection they'd installed. In the meantime we hooked it up the original one and it works , usually.

SMM - how did they reduce your bill? i've been paying for the top package but only getting the basic one apparently but the woman told DH there's no differnce in the price. so we couldn't ahve a reduction. ours is upgraded automatically now roll on august when I can leave them.

as i'vve said b4 yeaterday - if you're a woman and ring them all you get is the run around and shit. DH rang them and it was sorted out within about half an hour.

SpookyMadMummy · 08/06/2007 13:52

Munz, they repriced the broadband packages and then gave me an extra discount. It was only repriced recently. My discount is £8 a month. Only snag is, if you get the discount, you are handcuffed to them for another 12 months!
Lizs - is it a home hub? or another router? I have a home hub and they replaced mine, turns out my original one is faulty and they are sending me a third, so if its any good to you I have a brand new home hub up for grabs.... or I will when the third arrives!

munz · 08/06/2007 13:53

ah they cvan bugger off then, as 2 months and we're leaving them! lol.

LIZS · 08/06/2007 14:02

LIZS · 08/06/2007 14:13

SpookyMadMummy · 08/06/2007 14:15

pmsl! the home hub seems to be a better router, although its still crap for me! I had a voyager before and that WAS rubbish!

LIZS · 08/06/2007 14:16

disconnected half way through last posting , now down at 576kbps cr*p ! Will add this to dh's calls list for the weekend (Southern Electric anyone ?) - he just loves talking to "Pete" in India !!

OP posts:
LIZS · 08/06/2007 14:17

SpookyMadMummy · 08/06/2007 14:18

Phone them about having your Broadband out, they should be able to tell you the speed then!

SpookyMadMummy · 08/06/2007 14:19

I regularly lose connection and have to reset the whole thing too... you have my sympathy! Your next door neighbour could have perfect service! but you are stuck with a low speed!

LIZS · 08/06/2007 15:01

According to dh it is supposed to be 2meg ?!

OP posts:
SpookyMadMummy · 08/06/2007 15:48

Ah supposed to be.... mine was supposed to be 5 meg... I get less than one!

LIZS · 09/06/2007 10:02
